This TGA approved method of Collagen Induction Therapy tightens skin, improves texture and assists with the reduction of scars and hormonal pigmentation. A sterile roller or stamp with very fine, stainless steel needles is methodically placed over your skin, resulting in cell multiplication and the formation of new collagen fibres, strengthening & firming the skin. Full face and neck can be treated in one session or selected smaller regions can be targeted.
What does microneedling treat?
- Loss of skin tone
- Stretch marks
- Scars (including acne scarring)
- Enlarged pores
- Sebum over production
- Fragile thinning skin
How does it work?
A roller device with fine stainless steel needles (similar to acupuncture needles) is rolled over the skin, causing it to react with electrical signals, releasing potassium, sodium, anionic protein and cell generated tissue growth factors (the ionic pump), resulting in cellular regeneration. The needling action also stimulates collagen production. A detailed explanation of the physiological mechanisms of the microneedling and its benefits within the skin is explained by your skin clinician at consultation.
What does it feel like?
A local anaesthetic cream applied 45 minutes before the procedure minimises discomfort. Most patients report a dull sensation of pressure and a sensation of mild to moderate stimulation during treatment.
What can I expect after the treatment?
Clients experience an even, bright flushing immediately after the procedure, which soon fades to a pinkish flush lasting 12-24 hours. Slight tightening around the eyes and occasional minimal bruising may be present for 1-2 days. Expect a slight dryness of the skin for 3-5 days, which is alleviated by use of the at-home skin care kit required as part of the treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
- For Collagen Induction Therapy, three treatments with a 6-8 week gap are recommended for optimum results.
- For scar improvement (research has shown up to 70% improvement), an average of 5 treatments is recommended.
- To maintain your collagen and skin health, a 12-month maintenance treatment is recommended.
